Long time musical associates Christine Magee and Shane Raman return to the Backstage Lounge for a night of fantastic atmosphere, excellent music, and good, clean fun. Featuring music from Broadway and radio as well as originals by Christine and Shane, the musical feast is eclectic, engaging and energetic. Here, pop, soul gospel, and jazz/blues fuse and sizzle seamlessly thanks to the extensive collective experience brought together in this talented group of players.
Christine Magee (vocals/keys/guitar) is a Vancouver based singer-songwriter and pianist with roots in both classical and soul-jazz. Having come off the successful release of her Gospel Music Award winning debut album “Overcome,” Christine has been performing regularly in the Lower Mainland and across canada with her soul/jazz/blues inspired sound.
Shane Raman (vocals/keys) graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance. Currently Shane is a baritone with the Vancouver Cantata Singers and is one of the Co-Artistic Directors of the acclaimed vocal group, Musica Intima. Shane is also a songwriter, composer, and arranger of pop, broadway and choral music, and has written, performed, and recorded pieces with the VCS and Musica Intima.
UK Native Michael Connor (bass/keys) finds the world of musical performance and composition to be very familiar territory. Having grown up in an environment where music was everywhere, and after more than a decade of gigging, he now applies his deeply intuitive knowledge of the groove as a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and arranger.
Originally hailing from the Kootenays, BC native Jarrod Haas (drums) is now based in the Vancouver area. After investing time at the Humber College of Music in Toronto, Jarrod subsequently had the opportunity to be mentored by some of Canada's best musicians. With an emphasis on rock and funk injected with years of attentive listening to the jazz tradition, Jarrod brings a depth, energy and taste to the groove that will move you.
