The Twisters are best known as Canada’s master of “Hot Jump/Swing Blues.” Paying dues to the blues tradition, the Twisters swing hard with two inspired vocalists, tightly woven harp and guitar lines, upright bass and a relentless driving rhythm section forging a swing grove that is a knockout winner.
Each member has brought his musical talents and influences to the table, resulting in a potpourri guaranteed to satisfy. From deep in the Mississippi Delta to early Chicago shuffles, from infectious Texas grinders to West Coast jump, funky swamp-soaked Louisiana rhythms, to blues-a-billy swing, the Twisters always serve up a smorgasbord of dance fun.
Playing primarily original material the Twisters are proud parents of five CD recordings. Their latest release, “Come Out Swinging” has expanded their jump/swing rootsy sound to include reggae, R&B, and gospel.
Here’s what the media and industry is saying!
•“I love them Twister boys” – Candye Kane
•“These cats are serious contenders” – Blues Blast
•“This swinging jump – swing gang knows how to blow up a storm and get the party started as well as keeping it going” – Chris Spector, Midwest Record
•“A band to watch out for, especially if you like the dance floor” – Derek Andrews, Toronto Blues Society’s “Maple Blues Publication”
